BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A collision involving an SUV and truck shut down northbound Interstate 5 in Bellingham.
The crash happened after 3 p.m. on the interstate at Samish Way.
Troopers said the crash caused serious injuries, but they did not identify who was injured.
The owners of the truck and travel trailer were changing a flat tire on the shoulder of the road when the SUV drifted and struck the truck and trailer, according to troopers. The couple was also struck and thrown into a ditch.
Officials set up a detour through Fairhaven Parkway so that traffic could get through and later reopened one lane to allow traffic to continue moving.
I-5 fully reopened after 7 p.m.
