Man arrested in Bellevue, 3 AR-15 style rifles confiscated

BELLEVUE — A possible domestic disturbance led to an investigation and the arrest of a 35-year-old felon in Bellevue where three AR-15 style rifles, a shotgun, gun holster and hundreds of rounds ammunition were confiscated.

The investigation started with a 911 report of a possible domestic disturbance with a firearm. Officers arrived at the home, where the man denied any altercation.

Before leaving, the officers swept the apartment and noticed the rifles, ammunition and a bulletproof vest in plain sight. After running their names, their information came back clear and the officers left since no crime could be documented.

Upon further investigation, officers learned the man had given them an alias and were able to determine he was a convicted felon. Since it is illegal for felons to own firearms, detectives and SWAT were called to assist in the arrest.

Detectives waited for the man to leave his apartment and the SWAT team was able to make an arrest without incident.

“This is outstanding work by our patrol officers, detectives and SWAT,” said Investigations Major Travess Forbush. “They worked all night to correctly identify this convicted felon and remove the unlawfully possessed weapons.”

The suspect has been booked into jail on four counts of unlawful possession of firearms, and additional charges are pending.
