Western Washington crane operators went on strike starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday, and a picket was expected near the Amazon Spheres later this afternoon.

The full impact to Seattle construction sites remained to be seen Tuesday.

The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 told all members working under the Washington Master Labor Agreement to not report for work.

Their latest contract proposal was rejected. The crane operators want a 15 percent raise over three years and better health and pension benefits.

Members were asked to report to a Bothell union hall between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. depending on their job type. Jobs included crane operators, concrete pumpers, dirt workers, pavers, material handlers and others.

There were exemptions for some Local 302 members. See those here.
