SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — A crash involving a car and some cows closed both directions of US 2 between Monroe and Snohomish early Friday.
Snohomish County deputies said a car hit and killed multiple cows and others were still roaming.
Around 5 a.m., roadblocks were set up along US 2 near Monroe at two ends of Roosevelt Road. The incident happened on the stretch of road that was in between those two locations.
Authorities tried to catch and corral cattle that had roamed onto the highway.
Our crew was able to get to both roadblocks but were not allowed beyond them to the area where the cattle were on the road. It is not known how the cows got there.
The car that was involved in the collision with at least one of the cows was totaled, though there were no injuries to the driver.
During the cleanup, our crew saw a flatbed truck hauling away at least three cow carcasses from the scene. It’s unclear if all of them were hit by just one vehicle or if other vehicles were involved.
No humans were hurt.
US 2 reopened just before 7 a.m.
The closure was reported at 5:10 a.m.
