SEATTLE — Police are investigating after a driver struck and killed a woman in a wheelchair in Seattle’s Licton Springs neighborhood on Monday.
Officers responded to the collision in the 9800 block of Aurora Avenue North at about 4:30 a.m.
According to police, the driver was traveling south on Aurora Avenue when they struck the 44-year-old victim. They then fled the scene, continuing to drive southbound.
Seattle Fire Department medics treated the woman at the scene before transporting her to Harborview Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
All southbound lanes of Aurora Avenue North were blocked while police responded to the scene.
Detectives with the SPD Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are now investigating this incident.
