RUSTON, Wash. — Crews with the Ruston and Tacoma fire departments responded to a massive house fire Sunday morning.

Flames erupted at the three-story house located in Ruston, a city adjacent to North Tacoma, near Point Defiance Park, before 6 a.m.

An aerial ladder was utilized to apply water to the fire while ground crews worked to apply water from outside of the home, paying special attention to the garage where several cooling propane tanks were located.

Most of the fire was extinguished by 6:30 a.m. At that time, crews stayed on the scene, focusing their efforts on occasional flare-ups.
