SEATTLE — Investigators are looking into what caused a massive two-alarm fire at a storage unit facility Wednesday afternoon in North Seattle.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at a storage unit structure at Aurora Avenue North and North 109th Street.

Before fire crews arrived, a thick plume of smoke could be seen in the sky as flames engulfed three buildings, which were damaged along with vintage cars.

It took firefighters hours to get the fire under control.

No injuries were reported, but the fire left a lasting, devastating impression for one man’s father who had vintage cars on the property.

The man told a KIRO 7 reporter that his father " ... loved to tinker with things. He loved to figure things out. He loved to do things that pushed his knowledge, and what’s he going to do now?”

Daniel Harmic, a man who works nearby, said, “I heard pops and booms and it sounded like stuff inside was possibly exploding.”

While firefighters worked to put out the flames, nearby businesses were blocked.

On Thursday morning, investigators said crews were unable to enter the building to determine the cause.

Officials said they have ruled the fire as undetermined and the total estimated loss is $230,000.
