MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. — The King County Sheriff’s Office said a man and a toddler were found dead at a home in Maple Valley late Thursday in a possible murder-suicide.
Sheriff's Office spokesman Ryan Abbott says deputies were called to the home on 277th Place Southeast for a domestic violence incident and found a woman and her unresponsive son.
CPR was performed on the 2 1/2-year-old, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Investigators also found the boy's 30-year-old father dead.
The cause of the boy’s death was asphyxia due to drowning and his father died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office said.
The boy and his parents, who were boyfriend and girlfriend, lived together at the home for more than a year.
Officers had never been called to the house before, Abbott said.
Abbott said the deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide.
The Major Crimes Unit was called to the scene.
