Department of Labor and Industries hosts public forum on workers’ insurance

Workers and employers will pay more for workers’ compensation insurance next year.

On Thursday, a proposal will be heard at a public forum hosted by the Department of Labor and Industries.

If adopted, workers and employees would pay an additional $65 per year for each full-time employee, a 4.9% increase from current rates.

The agency says that the increase is necessary due to “higher than normal increases in the state’s average wages in recent years.”

The meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at L&I Headquarters, Rooms S117, S118, S119 7273 at Linderson Way Southwest in Tumwater.
