The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office has released surveillance images and video of a person of interest in the quadruple homicide of a Seabeck family in January.
Hunter E. Schaap, 16, Johnathon F. Higgins, 16, and 37-year-old Christale Lynn Careaga, and 43-year-old John Careaga died of homicidal violence.
Deputies are asking the public’s help in searching for the person of interest. Detectives believe the person did not act alone.
“Over the past four months Kitsap Sheriff’s investigators have worked tirelessly on this case,” said Sheriff Gary Simpson. “At this point detectives have information they need to get out to everyone.”
On Tuesday, deputies released images of the person of interest, who was seen at a Target store at 3201 NW Randall Way in Silverdale on Jan. 15, which was 12 days before the murder.
Anyone who has seen the man or the vehicle is asked to contact Detective Jennifer Rice at 360-337-5616, Detective Lissa Gundrum at 360-337-5669 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Lt. Jon VanGesen told KIRO 7 they don’t necessarily need help finding the man’s identity, but they do need people who recognize him to reach out.
“We’re looking for interactions with the individual, who they’re associated with, their behaviors, conversations that they had with people,” VanGesen said.
He said he could not talk about what the man was doing at the Silverdale Target on Jan. 15th, but he said this moment is evidence of the man's planning and forethought before the murders.
VanGesen said this man did not act alone.
