Original story:
King County Major Crimes detectives say they don’t have many leads to solve the shooting murder of a 29-year-old man in a SeaTac parking lot that the victim’s friends say was not drug, gang or theft-related.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m. the man was shot several times by an unknown suspect who was possibly in a dark truck, witnesses told KIRO-7. They said the man arrived at Valley Ridge Park to play soccer with friends, and was shot when he went back to his car in the parking lot to retrieve something he’d left behind.
As of Friday night, authorities didn’t have a motive, a solid suspect profile or even a good description of the getaway vehicle.
Friends of the victim told KIRO-7 they don’t believe the shooter knew the victim. Late Friday night, the man’s Eritrean community gathered at the parking lot to mourn the loss of their family member.
The shooting happened within 100 feet of a playground and sports fields where soccer is typically played every day. The park is not typically known for crime or violence, according to King County Sheriff spokesperson Sgt. Ryan Abbott.
