SEIKU, Wash. — A 63-year-old man who was reported missing by a family member on Saturday has been found dead, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies had sought the public’s help in locating Edward Doherty who lived near milepost 13, close to Highway 112 and Simmons Street, on a property with his family.
Doherty reportedly left his residence on foot and did not take his cell phone with him.
He had a seizure disorder and a history of memory problems.
His family members and members of the fire department searched nearby trails and Forest Service Road 480 for him over the weekend but did not locate him.
Clallam County Search and Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard also assisted in the search for Doherty.
His body was found just before 12 p.m. Monday by members of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team.
Authorities say he was located about three quarters of a mile away from his residence in Sekiu, off of a logging road in a heavily wooded area.
There is no evidence of foul play, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
The case will be referred to the Clallam County Coroner for further review.
