Detectives investigate assault of 2-month-old Brier child

Detectives are investigating a reported assault of a 2-month-old child in Brier, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 8 p.m. on April 9, deputies responded to a report of a 2-month-old child who was having difficulty breathing.

Medics arrived and transported the child to Swedish Hospital in Edmonds.

The child was then transported to Seattle Children’s Hospital.

On April 10, the Brier Police Department was notified by hospital staff that the child’s injuries were not conducive to accidental trauma.

On April 13, at the request of the Brier Police Department, the investigation was taken over by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office special investigations unit.

The 2-month-old child remains hospitalized at Seattle Children’s in critical condition.
