Tacoma homicide suspect turns himself in; investigation ongoing

TACOMA, Wash. — Detectives are investigating a homicide after a man was shot dead in Tacoma overnight, according to the Tacoma Police Department.

The police department reports that police first responded to reports of a shooting along N 30th Street at around 2 a.m. Friday.

Arriving officers found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Despite lifesaving measures from police and Tacoma Fire Department medics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tacoma PD confirmed that detectives and Crime Scene Technicians are investigating the incident as a homicide, and that the investigation remains active.

A detective told KIRO 7 that a man had turned himself in by Friday evening.

While officers were on scene investigating the homicide, they were told that a man had arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. Over the course of the investigation, detectives determined that he was connected to the shooting and developed probable cause for his arrest.

After being cleared from the hospital, the suspect was booked into the Pierce County Jail for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery.
