WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Seven people were arrested in connection with the homicide of a woman in Whatcom County, deputies said. The woman’s body was found lying in the middle of a gravel access road at a park April 4, in Acme, Washington.

Investigators with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said two dog walkers found the body, later identified as Darian Sather, about 8 a.m. in the 1500 block of Mosquito Lake Road, located at South Fork County Park, and immediately called 911.

When deputies arrived, they determined Sather had suffered significant trauma, officials said.

Authorities said detectives and crime scene investigators were dispatched to the scene and determined foul play was involved.

On April 8, detectives received a tip that led them to a home near Ferndale and performed surveillance, authorities said.

Deputies said a man believed to be connected with Sather’s death left in a vehicle with several others and was arrested during a traffic stop on Decatur Drive. He was booked into the Whatcom County Jail.

On April 9, investigators received another tip leading them to a 25-year-old man believed to be connected to the homicide and hiding out at a relative’s home in Maple Falls, authorities said. Detectives went to the home located off of Shamrock Road about 10:30 p.m. and took the man into custody.

Investigators said a 29-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were also arrested for investigation of rendering criminal assistance.

Further investigation by deputies also determined two more people allegedly assisted the 25-year-old who was hiding out, authorities said. A 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman living at a home on Agate Bay Lane were arrested Saturday for investigation of rendering criminal assistance.

Deputies said the woman was taken into custody without incident and the man resisted arrest at first. Both were booked into jail.

Another man believed to be involved in Sather’s death had previously been arrested earlier in the week, deputies said.

Officials said they suspect there may be more people arrested for investigation of rendering criminal assistance.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have information about what may have taken place at the park to call its tip line at 360-778-6663.
