Driver dead after hitting power pole in Marysville

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Transportation notified the public that State Route 531 was fully blocked at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Sunday due to a car crash.

According to WSP, the car was traveling westbound on the eastbound lane on State Route 531 in Arlington when it left the road.

The car then hit a power pole before it caught fire.

The driver of the car was declared dead at the scene.

WSP said the car was going at a high rate of speed.

WSP does not know if impairment was involved and is actively investigating.

The road was reopened around 4:25 a.m.
