Driver dies after medical emergency, crash down incline to lake

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A 69-year-old driver has died after she suffered a medical emergency and crashed down an incline Wednesday evening into Moses Lake, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities said the woman suffered the emergency while driving east on Road 4 Northeast just past 7:30 p.m.

The woman crossed the intersection at Edwards Road and left the road, going through sagebrush and boulders, officials said. She then went airborne twice before going down a steep incline to the lake.

Law enforcement said the woman’s SUV came to a stop on a layer of ice covering the lake.

The SUV’s emergency notification system alerted first responders, who came to the woman’s rescue and took her to the hospital.

However, the woman died early Thursday morning, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported.
