Driver hospitalized after crashing car into tree in Snohomish

SNOHOMISH, Wash. — A driver was hospitalized Friday night after crashing into a tree and getting trapped in Snohomish.

Around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue responded to a call about a car-versus-tree crash on South Machias Road in Snohomish.

According to crews on the ground, the driver was trapped under the dash and needed to be pulled out of the car.

When Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office arrived the car was on fire and used fire extinguishers to put out the fire.

Fire crews arrived and assisted in putting out the fire and moved to pull the driver out using the jaws of life.

Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue said it took crews about 20 minutes to free the driver.

The driver was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett with serious injuries.

Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue said excessive speed was a factor in the severity of the crash.
