TACOMA, Wash. — The driver of a pickup was killed in a crash with a semitruck on Interstate 5 in Tacoma Wednesday morning.
It happened around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes near the Joint Base Lewis-McChord main gate.
The right two lanes were blocked.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Robert Reyer said a pickup truck heading southbound in the left lane crossed all lanes to the right and struck the semi’s trailer. The semi was stopped on the right shoulder.
The pickup then collided with a third vehicle after it hit the left rear area of the semi’s trailer.
The driver of the pickup died at the scene.
The lanes reopened around 10:50 a.m.
