Driver wanted for DUI arrested for reckless driving in Thurston County

GRAND MOUND, Wash. — A driver with an active warrant for DUI and driving with a suspended license was arrested for reckless driving after a Thurston County sergeant saw him blow through a stop sign going over 40 mph before swerving into an oncoming lane.

The sergeant pulled the driver over in Grand Mound off Old Highway 99, but once the car came to a stop, the driver opened their door and jumped out. They refused to comply with the sergeant and reached back into their car. The sergeant pulled out their gun while additional law enforcement units responded.

The driver was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody after resisting arrest.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said the driver is a convicted felon who had an active no bail warrant for DUI and driving on a suspended license.

The driver was arrested for his warrant and new charges of driving on a suspended license, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock, reckless driving, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.
