Redmond police used drone technology to locate and apprehend a suspect in a car prowling incident, according to a department statement.
On January 7, at approximately 12:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle break-in near the intersection of Avondale Way Northeast and Redmond Way.
A witness told officers that he saw a man breaking into a truck and searching through the back.
The witness provided a description of the suspect and said the man was walking toward businesses on the 17200 block of Redmond Way.
A Drone as a First Responder (DFR) pilot launched a drone to assist in the search.
The drone quickly located the suspect, and the pilot directed patrol officers to the individual’s location.
Officers arrived on scene and detained the suspect without incident.
