SAMMAMISH, Wash. — Eastside Fire & Rescue crews responded to a large house fire in the 3500 block of 207th Avenue Southeast in Sammamish Sunday afternoon.
The Redmond and Bellevue fire departments also assisted in the response.
EF&R first tweeted about the fire just after 1:30 p.m. As of 2 p.m., firefighters were fighting the flames defensively. When crews first go there the entire roof was on fire.
Everyone who was in the home was able to get out safely, EF&R said.
But unfortunately, most of the house was a total loss. Only some bricks and boards are still standing in part of the home.
Fire crews said there were a couple of things about the home that made the fire tough to fight.
“It’s at the bottom of a driveway so hydrants are limited so that caused some challenges,” said Jordan Simmonds Battalion Chief of Eastside Fire and Rescue. “Then obviously a very large house and quite a bit of fire and with that amount of fire, it takes a long time to put it out.”
Crews said they were able to save the basement and that some of the items inside will be salvageable but the rest of the home is almost all lost.
Operations are still defensive at this time. @@BvueFD and Redmond Fire are assisting with the fire. pic.twitter.com/6gc0OUd5K3
