EDMONDS, Wash. — Sherwood Elementary went into a precautionary lockdown Thursday morning while Edmonds police arrested a 40-year-old man, accused of stealing an electric company work van with $15,000 worth of tools inside.
It happened just after 7 a.m. while officers served a search warrant on the person’s home – which happens to be across the street from the school.
During Thursday’s arrest, officers say they found about $10,000 worth of the stolen property, allowing the company to resume operations.
Edmonds police confirmed that the suspect was tied to a case they had been investigating for the last week but had escalated in the last 24 hours.
The department did not share details of the case.
By 8 a.m., the lockdown had been lifted and the scene was secure.
Edmonds police say they are still looking into other persons of interest in the burglary case.
