EDMONDS, Wash. — Edmonds police have released new video footage from a shooting that left a teenager in critical condition.
They tell us they want the public’s help identifying the five suspects seen in the video.
Edmonds PD say they believe those suspects are all in their late teens or early twenties and at least three of them are men.
This morning, police have a message for those five people. Officers say they are working around the clock to find out who is responsible ― and those people will be arrested.
Investigators say the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday near Arnie’s restaurant and the ferry terminal.
They tell us an 18-year-old man and his sister were at the pier when the group approached them, started a verbal fight, and then at least one suspect started shooting.
The man was shot multiple times and is still in critical condition. Edmonds Police Commander Josh McClure said they are hoping to talk to the victim soon.
“We are hoping to do that today, detectives are waiting for the call to have some form of communication with the victim,” McClure said.
The sister told investigators she didn’t know who the group was ― police say this could be the result of gang violence.
Fisherman Eddie Miguel says he spends a lot of early mornings on the pier. He was there searching for squid around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
He said he wasn’t at the pier when the shooting happened but says he isn’t surprised someone got hurt.
“Being here in Edmonds, you rarely get this, but I’ve seen a lot of younger teens come around here, they get rowdy sometimes in the parking lots,” Miguel said.
He tells us he sometimes fishes alone and is always careful.
“You have to be aware of your surroundings and have buddies with you too,” Miguel said.
Edmonds police say they have a deal for any of those five suspects who turn themselves in.
“We know there are people out there who know who were involved,” McClure said. “You might’ve been involved and not done anything, you were just there when it happened. We want to consider you a witness, not a suspect. If you know something, we want you to come forward.”
