Election ballots found alongside road in Oak Harbor, USPS investigating

OAK HARBOR, Wash. — The United States Postal Service is investigating how election ballots ended up alongside a road in Oak Harbor.

On Thursday, a man was riding his bike from work in Oak Harbor along Scenic Heights Road when he encountered assorted mail and multiple ballots scattered around the ground.

After capturing it on video, the man called the Oak Harbor Police Department to report the found mail.

Once the officer arrived, the mail was returned to the post office.

The postal service did confirm that the ballots were turned over to them but did not say how many ballots were brought in.

The United States Postal Service said they immediately notified the County Board of Elections and that new ballots were issued to the affected customers.

According to the USPS, they are investigating how the mail ended up alongside Scenic Heights Road.
