Emergency crews respond to ammonia leak in Mukilteo

Emergency responders are on the scene of an ammonia leak at Pacific Seafood, located at 4520 107th Street Southwest in Mukilteo.

First responders from Everett Fire and several other regional fire departments, including Snohomish County’s Hazmat teams, are working to contain the situation.

The leak has prompted safety precautions for nearby businesses.

A shelter-in-place order has been issued for people within 600 feet of the leak, urging them to remain indoors until further notice.

Authorities advise the public to avoid the area as roads have been closed in the immediate vicinity to ensure public safety.

Neighboring businesses were advised to take immediate action to protect employees and customers, while fire and hazmat teams continue to assess the leak and manage the containment process.

Authorities have not reported any injuries, and updates will follow as the situation develops.

Statement from Pacific Seafood

We are aware of the developing situation at our Mukilteo facility. It appears there was an ammonia leak. The leak was discovered outside of the building and the cause is currently unknown. We immediately notified first responders and followed our emergency safety protocol. All team members were evacuated from the building and there are no injuries reported. First responders were on the scene within minutes. Our neighbors were notified and given instructions by emergency responders to ensure their safety. We want to thank the emergency responders for their swift response.
