The new commercial terminal at Everett's Paine Field passed its latest regulatory hurdle, paving the way for passenger service to begin as early as next year.
The Federal Aviation Administration released a 134-page environmental review over the weekend.
It finds no "significant" issues when it comes to the level of noise, traffic or pollution with the new commercial passenger terminal at Everett's Paine Field.
The agency conducted a second environmental assessment after 3 airlines -- Alaska, United and Southwest announced they were going to offer 24 daily commercial flights out of Paine Field, doubling the original number.
Construction for the $40 million facility is on track to be completed by the end of October.
So far no word on when tickets for the three airlines could go on sale. We reached out to Alaska Airlines, and they said an announcement is expected “soon.”
The public can still weigh in on the FAA findings until Nov. 2. There is a public workshop scheduled for Oct. 29 at the Lynnwood Convention Center. Here's a link to the FAA environmental assessment.
