Facebook launching tools to battle COVID-19 vaccine misinformation, share public health info

Facebook is rolling out new tools to help with COVID-19 vaccine distribution worldwide, including campaigns to fight misinformation and information on where people can get vaccinated.

The site’s new COVID-19 Information Center has data on cases where you live, links to local public health organizations and information on the virus worldwide. It features videos sharing information about the vaccine from reputable sources like Johns Hopkins and the Mayo Clinic and includes links to news articles with the latest on the virus.

Facebook is also taking steps to stop the spread of disinformation about the COVID-19 vaccines. This includes removing posts that include debunked hoaxes and false claims and removing pages and groups that repeatedly spread false information.

Additionally, the company is announcing training, marketing and $120 million in advertising credits to health agencies around the world to help spread accurate information about the vaccine.
