FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Police are investigating after a person died in a hit-and-run crash Sunday evening in Federal Way.
Federal Way police said that at 9:06 p.m., a car traveling south on Pacific Highway South crashed into a vehicle that was turning left from northbound Pacific Highway South onto westbound South 316th Street.
Witnesses told police the southbound vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed. After the crash, the driver of that car walked away from the scene.
When officers arrived, one of the vehicles was on the sidewalk and had hit a street lamp post.
Police found one vehicle with significant damage to the passenger side with an unconscious woman in the front passenger seat.
Police said lifesaving measures were performed on the victim, but medics pronounced her dead at the scene. The driver of that car, also a woman, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials did not give any additional information on the suspect's whereabouts.
