A 36-year-old man was shot to death early Sunday morning in Tacoma.
Shortly after 2 a.m., police were dispatched to the 2000 block of East 44th Street.
"Upon arriving, units found a 36-year-old male in the street that had been shot," according to a police statement. "He was administered first aid until Tacoma Fire Department arrived and transported him to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries."
Forensic detectives processed the scene, and the investigation is ongoing. Additional details, including the man's name, were not given Sunday.
The victim's name is expected to be released by the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office later this week.
