FIFE, Wash. — A road rage shooting on the freeway almost cost a father his life.
Jordan Powers tells KIRO 7 that he was headed northbound on Interstate 5 in Fife, when out of nowhere, a black car cut him off and almost hit him.
He says he got upset and regrets the next moment.
“I made a big mistake and it almost cost me my life,” Powers told KIRO 7.
Powers says he followed the driver, got in front of him, and brake-checked him.
That’s when both drivers rolled down their windows, and the other driver fired two shots at him.
He says the doorframe saved his life.
One of the bullets is still stuck in his passenger seat.
“Even if that bullet went straight through, it’s very possible it might have hit the back of my skull,” Powers told KIRO 7.
He’s hoping his hard lesson can save a life, urging drivers to get behind the wheel with a clear head and not drive with their egos.
“It’s not worth it guys. I was that close to dying today and if you guys can take my story and learn from it, it could save someone else’s life maybe one day,” he told KIRO 7.
This is the third road rage shooting in our region in the past few weeks.
One happened on I-5 near Boeing Field last Monday, and another happened on I-405 in Bellevue.
Washington State Patrol says they are investigating 11 freeway shootings in King County alone.
Troopers say no arrest has been made in Powers’ case.
