On the day before President-elect Joe Biden is inaugurated, law enforcement officials are on high alert for trouble.
The FBI in Seattle is urging everyone to keep an eye out.
“Now’s the time — eyes and ears. If something doesn’t seem right or look right, over report it at this point,” said Assistant Special Agent in Charge Mark Nichols.
Nichols said the FBI has been getting more tips lately after the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
On Saturday, just outside the FBI’s Seattle office, police arrested a man they said acted alone in making a bomb threat and setting fire to the tire of his pickup.
“We’re not sure what to expect; anything could happen,” Nichols said. “We are ready for everything to potentially happen.”
Nichols stressed the relationships with law enforcement agencies across the state to keep an eye on potential soft targets, as well as more fortified places like the state Capitol in Olympia.
“Thankfully, we don’t have any specific or current, direct threats at this time,” he said.
