Tacoma Police officers used Narcan to save a life during a suspected opioid overdose incident under a Puyallup Avenue overpass, the department said.
Officers were flagged down and quickly assessed the situation, suspecting a fentanyl overdose.
They administered two doses of Narcan and performed three rounds of chest compressions before Tacoma Fire arrived to take over care.
Their swift actions ensured the individual survived.
The department noted that many officers are trained and equipped with Narcan, a critical tool in responding to the ongoing opioid crisis.
Since its adoption, Tacoma Police have distributed 243 units of Narcan to officers and Community Service Officers, underscoring its role in saving lives.
