TUKWILA, Wash. — A large fight involving teens sent Tukwila’s Southcenter Mall into lockdown Sunday.

Police officers arrived at the mall after hearing about the fight as well as initial reports of gunshots at 6 p.m.

The mall went into lockdown shortly after.

Officers soon determined that the reports of gunfire were false, but a young man was detained for having a gun, according to a Facebook post published by the Tukwila Police Department.

Officials say that because of the large amount of people that were leaving the area, officers from multiple jurisdictions were requested to help with de-escalating and getting everyone to their vehicles.

Someone who saw the fight sent us photos showing a group of people circled around someone.

A witness told us he didn’t realize how big the fight was until officers came running into the mall, telling shoppers and moviegoers to get out.

“I just see stuff like this a lot. I kind of just walked right past it and was like, ‘whatever.’ But I didn’t realize it was that big,” said Mateo.

No injuries were reported.
