OLYMPIA, Wash. — A fire inside the White Building in downtown Olympia caused $200,000 in damages early Tuesday.
Fire officials said they responded to the fire around just after 2 a.m. and arrived to find smoke on both the first and second floors.
The White Building is the oldest commercial building in downtown Olympia and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Officials said the fire was knocked down just before 3 a.m., but three addresses inside were affected by the fire.
“The building did have working smoke detectors and fire alarm system, but does not have fire sprinklers,” a spokesperson for the OIympia Fire Department wrote in a news release.
As of 7 a.m. Tuesday, no injuries had been reported.
Crews remained on scene Tuesday to monitor hot spots in hidden spaces, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
