Firefighter accused of sending threats to Seattle council member charged with cyberstalking, identity theft

SEATTLE — A Seattle firefighter who is accused of sending threatening emails to Seattle Council member Kshama Sawant is being charged with cyberstalking and identity theft.

KIRO 7 showed you a video of Andrew Finseth when he was named firefighter of the year.

According to charging documents, Finseth told police he had no intention of harming Sawant but was writing the threats as a way to get back at another firefighter.

Finseth also allegedly impersonated that firefighter, accessing their email and sending four threatening emails to Sawant. He also emailed a fire department supervisor and requested a transfer under his colleague’s name, charging documents stated.

According to charging documents, Finseth later admitted to sending the emails in December 2020 and January 2021.

Finseth was released without bond.
