SEATTLE — Fire crews removed a man who was stuck under a Sound Transit train Saturday night.
The call in the 9100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South was dispatched shortly after 9 p.m. The 43-year-old man was removed shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Dozens of first responders frantically worked to lift the train off the tracks using specialized equipment to remove the man in less than 15 minutes.
David Cuerpo with the Seattle Fire Department said they, "Have a very specific tool that can actually remove the front portion of the train, and then lift it off of the ground in order to get a basket underneath and pull the patient out safely."
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center and was pretty shaken up, but was doing O.K., Seattle Fire Department officials said.
All Sound Transit trains were stopped during the 9 p.m. hour Saturday but were returned to normal operation shortly before 10 p.m.
