SEATTLE — Five people were arrested during a protest Saturday night in Seattle’s Capitol Hill area, according to police.
Police said they arrested the demonstrators at 10:30 p.m. at 15th Avenue East and East Spring Street for failing to disperse, pedestrian interference, obstruction and resisting arrest.
The demonstration began at about 8 p.m. at Seattle Central College, sometimes with the group blocking traffic on major roads, which delayed a Seattle Fire vehicle on its way to the hospital, officials said.
Police said the demonstrators started a small fire at 12th Avenue and East Remington Court while they were marching and that is when a dispersal order was issued.
Some protesters spray-painted parking signs and buildings as they marched and even used a large patio umbrella to block the view of police from seeing the property damage, according to authorities.
The five people were booked into the King County Jail.
