Puyallup police have arrested five juvenile suspects in connection with three separate shootings that occurred in the city between December 12 and December 28, 2024, according to a department statement.
The first shooting, on 47th Avenue Southeast, involved an attempted robbery stemming from a property transaction arranged via social media.
As the victim drove away in a vehicle, the suspects fired shots, striking the victim’s car, an unoccupied vehicle, and a nearby occupied vehicle. No one was injured.
The second shooting occurred in downtown Puyallup near Pioneer and Meridian Street, where two suspects shot into an occupied Pierce Transit bus after disembarking.
The intended target was a juvenile passenger on the bus, but no one was struck.
The third shooting took place at the Glenbrooke apartment complex on 43rd Avenue Southeast and was the result of an illegal firearm transaction turned robbery.
The victim was shot in the leg and suffered a serious injury but was provided immediate life-saving care by responding officers.
The Puyallup Police Department Investigative Services Unit determined there were connections between the cases and that at least one suspect was involved in two of the shootings.
On January 10, the Metro Cities SWAT Team served a search warrant at an apartment in the South Hill area and arrested four juvenile suspects.
They were booked into Remann Hall for charges including Assault 1st degree, Robbery 1st degree, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd degree, and Reckless Endangerment.
Shortly after, a fifth juvenile suspect was located during a traffic stop in the South Hill area and was also taken into custody.
He was booked into Remann Hall for Robbery 1st degree, Assault 1st degree, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd degree.
Multiple firearms were also recovered during the arrests.
The Puyallup Police Department stated they do not believe there is any further threat to the community due to these arrests.
