Former Sumner basketball coach charged for sexual abuse, exploitation of child

SUMNER, Wash. — A Sumner basketball coach has been charged in connection with an investigation into sexual abuse and harassment.

Jacob Jackson, 35, faces 10 total charges, including third-degree rape, third-degree child molestation, first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor, communication with a minor for immoral purposes, and indecent exposure.

Sumner police have been investigating the case since the first report in August of last year.

According to a lawsuit, Jackson was the head of the boy’s basketball team for Sumner High School from 2016 to September 2022, where he coached the victim.
