Game store targeted again; thief steals nearly 2K in merchandise

SEATTLE — A Seattle business owner whose retro video game store was broken into less than three weeks ago has been hit again.

Cody Spencer’s Pink Gorilla, located in the Chinatown International District, was hit early Friday.

Spencer shared the video of the smash-and-grab burglary.

Spencer said the thief stole nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise.

Now Spencer is offering a $10,000 reward to catch the person responsible.

In the surveillance video, it appears to show the same thief canvassing the area and then returning to smash his way into a nearby camera store.

Spencer said he’s been at the location for 17 years, saying things have been mostly calm up until now.

“It definitely felt targeted. We have very resellable stuff. Very valuable stuff,” Spencer said.

After the first break-in, Spencer said the stolen products were worth about $8,000. He also said that number didn’t take into account the time that he and employees spent researching, buying, and cleaning the merchandise — some of which were imported from overseas.
