SEATTLE — It will be a poo party of sorts when the Woodland Park Zoo kicks off its annual Fall Fecal Fest on Aug. 21, where gardeners can enter to win a chance to buy Zoo Doo.
Zoo Doo is animal feces saved up from the zoo’s nonprimate herbivores, such as rhinos, hippos and giraffes.
It's highly coveted compost that is used to help grow veggies and annuals.
The premium-quality poo is a combination of doo, sawdust and large amounts of wood chips. The compost can used to cushion perennial beds and woody landscapes, which may include rose beds, shrubs and pathways.

Those who are looking to enter will need to fill out an entry form at zoo.org/fecalfest.
If you're lucky enough to win a chance to buy the fertilizer, the cost ranges from $5 for 5 gallons to $50 for 100 gallons.
People who want it by the truckload: 6x3 bed $40; 6x4 bed $50; 8x4 bed $60. Winners may purchase up to two full truckloads per person.
Once the winners are announced, pickup for the bed spread will start Sept. 29 and run through Oct. 14.
