GIG HARBOR, Wash. — Someone is snatching purses in Gig Harbor, and police are asking for help to track them down.
The department says three women’s purses were stolen in as many days— each incident happening in the parking lot of a different store.
The elderly women were either carrying their purses or had set them in their grocery carts.
According to police, two people would approach the women and fight them for their purses before getting in a car and driving off.
It’s unknown if the suspects are the same in each incident.
Police say one of the women fell to the ground trying to save her bag, and badly hurt her face.
“We urge everyone to keep their personal possessions close and to not leave valuables unattended in carts or open vehicle trunks,” the police department wrote online. “Be aware of your surroundings and people or vehicles that may approach you in public places. Prioritize your personal safety over that of your possessions.”
