Gov. Ferguson taps former KIRO 7 investigator Jesse Jones to lead Results Washington

Governor Bob Ferguson has appointed former journalist Jesse Jones as the new director of Results Washington, the state agency tasked with improving government performance, according to an announcement made Wednesday.

Jones, known for his award-winning investigative reporting, will lead the agency in a renewed focus on enhancing customer service and responsiveness across state government.

In his recent inaugural address, Ferguson emphasized the need to streamline state government and improve services for Washington residents and businesses.

He stated that reducing bureaucracy and improving customer experiences are top priorities.

Jones will direct Results Washington to use its resources and expertise to help agencies deliver the best possible services.

Jones brings to the role a career marked by investigative reporting that has spurred change at the local, state, and federal levels.

His work as a consumer advocate has led to legal reforms, including those curbing ticket bots, campaigning for free credit freezes, and exposing deceptive real estate practices.

“Washingtonians know that when there is a problem to be solved, you get Jesse,” said Ferguson, emphasizing Jones’ proven ability to deliver results. “Government must work better. Jesse’s track record makes him an ideal candidate for this role.”

Jones has received multiple Emmy awards for his reporting. He was a member of a team that was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in 2024.

He was also selected to represent the 2024 class of the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle Award.

A graduate of Tacoma’s Henry Foss High School, Jones began his television career as an intern at KSTW-TV in Tacoma. In 2007, he launched the “Get Jesse” consumer investigative segment on KING 5, where he assisted Washington residents in addressing problems with businesses and contractors. This led to numerous local, state and federal investigations.

He later moved to KIRO 7 in 2014, where his “Jesse Jones” segment included nationally recognized investigations leading to policy changes at various levels, and impacting Fortune 500 companies.

His investigations included one into a questionable computer repair program at Office Depot which led to a Federal Trade Commission investigation, and another that exposed hidden fees at Climate Pledge Arena.

Jones currently resides in Snohomish County with his wife, Kim. His daughter, Cydney, attends college in Colorado.
