SEATTLE — On Thursday, the Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King & Kittitas counties (Habitat SKKC) will be joining Habitat for Humanity organizations around the world in celebrating President Jimmy Carter’s contributions to the organization.
The remembrance will be held at the Olympic Sculpture Park PACCAR Pavilion at 2 p.m.
Habitat SKKC will also raise a wall with a door in it to symbolize the many doors of opportunity that President Carter helped make possible through his life of service to others,” Habitat SKKC wrote in a press release.
Habitat SKKC CEO and local community leaders will be in attendance.
“We join with others around the world in mourning the passing of President Jimmy Carter. The legacy he leaves behind in the Habitat homes he and Mrs. Carter built, and in the progress achieved in the fight for affordable housing and home ownership, will endure for generations to come. May President Carter’s life of service and his spirit of generosity continue to be an example to us all,” said Brett D’Antonio, CEO of Habitat SKKC.
The public is invited to pay personal tribute by signing the wall and door with a personal message.
The memorial door will remain in place outside PACCAR Pavilion until 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9 for the public to sign.
