Heartwood Haven steps in to rescue pigs after they were dumped in the cold in Hamma Hamma

Six pigs are safe after a nearby resident discovered them in a remote forested area in Hamma Hamma.

Heartwood Haven, a rescue organization based in Roy, stepped in to save the pigs and brought them to their sanctuary where they would be safe after being abandoned.

They put a team of volunteers and staff together and headed out into the cold to find them.

Around 8 a.m., Heartwood Haven was able to capture the mother and by 4:39 p.m. they were able to rescue the remaining five.

The pigs are now in a warm, safe environment where they have been fed and evaluated at the onsite clinic.

The next job will be for the pigs to get spayed/neutered.

If you would like to help, Heartwood Haven is accepting donations to cover the cost associated with the care and health of the pigs.
