The fire in the 26500 block of 115th Place Southeast was reported at 4:06 a.m.

When fire crews arrived, flames were coming from the entire front of the two-story home and both cars in the driveway were burning.

Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority said the two adults and two older teens who were inside were able to escape.

According to fire officials, one of the family members woke up to see flames outside their window and  alerted everyone to get out.

"We know it's smoke that kills people when they're sleeping, not the fire and obviously, there was a lot of that. So we're just grateful they were able to get out safely, because that changes how we fight the fire as well," said Kyle Ohashi with Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority.

The family dog was unaccounted for. Its body was later found.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
