BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Both directions of I-5 near Bellingham are back open after closures that started Monday due to water on the road and landslides, WSDOT officials said.
The southbound lanes were closed at North Lake Samish Drive when there were 6 to 8 inches of water on the road, but reopened around 4:40 a.m. Tuesday.
The northbound lanes remained closed at Nulle Road until around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday due to two landslides on the road.
WSDOT crews had to assess the stability of the hillside, remove downed trees and clear debris from the road.
OPEN: With extended thanks to @wsdot crews for their hard work, to public for their patience & our partner agencies we just got word that all I-5 NB at Nulle Road are OPEN. We have some work to finish this week, and that may require taking a lane but for now we 👏Travel safely! https://t.co/s1RJDrHKd4
