SEATTLE — Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a scooter and a car in West Seattle.
The crash happened at 3:20 p.m. Friday in the 4500 block of Beach Drive Southwest, near Alki Beach.
Police said the driver of the car was parked on the east side of the road. He pulled out and attempted a U-turn when the 61-year-old scooter rider, who was heading north, tried to avoid the vehicle but collided with it.
Seattle fire officials said lifesaving measures were performed on the scooter rider, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
It is not yet known if the driver will be charged.
