SEATTLE — Police are investigating after two people were fatally shot Saturday afternoon in Seattle’s Lake City area.

The shooting occurred at the Hillcourt Apartments, located in the 3000 block of Northeast 140th Street.

“At this point, what we have is two people who are obviously deceased. We are unclear of how they died. We have some suspicions, but we can’t say for sure at this point,” said Seattle Police Department Detective Patrick Michaud.

It is not yet known what led to the shooting. However, Michaud told KIRO 7 whoever may have killed the people was able to enter the building and apartment without forcing their way in and without anyone noticing anything was happening.

“It was believed to be what we call a murder-suicide but at this point, it doesn’t appear to be that,” Michaud said.

This shooting is the latest in a string of violent incidents from Friday into Saturday.

Police said a fight near a Pioneer Square nightclub was followed by a shooting and vehicle pursuit.

In West Seattle, a man was pistol-whipped overnight, and witnesses say the suspect opened fire while fleeing from the scene.

A man was also injured Friday night in a shooting near 2nd Avenue and Pine Street.

In the Chinatown/International District, a man was shot following a fight at a nearby club.

“It was a violent night in the city. We need to have additional officers out there,” Michaud said.

Police are asking anyone who may have noticed a car speeding away from the apartments or have any information that can help to give them a call.
